So it appears as if the Ace Hotel has started their own "Outdoor Club," and for their maiden voyage they chose my home state of Michigan. Back in February, Ryan Huber of Madison-based Context gathered together such explorers of style as Ace Hotel NY curator Jou-Yie Chou and Andrea Westerland of Fjallraven for an adventure into the great white north. Littered with imagery ranging from pristine forests to local cuisine (think ox heart sandwiches) to the occasional pull of bourbon, Annemarie Ahearn of Salt Water Farm provides an entertaining account of their trip. Being from Michigan and having dealt with relentless winters, warped accents and "recreational" snowmobilers, I must say that reading about the team's mild suffering was almost as pleasurable as the images and ideas for next winter's personal outfitting.
