I love when NY magazine comes out with their best of.. there was one store that really caught my eye that I am gonna have to check out, especially since it is right in the neighborhood! Old Hollywood-110 Meserole Ave., nr. Manhattan Ave., Greenpoint; 718-389-0837 "As a former full-time buyer for indie jewelry store Catbird, Old Hollywood owner Tiffany Porter has a talent for discovering distinctive young designers. She and her partner Alex Shulhafer launched this 300-square-foot Greenpoint nook in October, focusing on vintage-inspired accessories. Around twenty lines are displayed in the drawers of an antique wardrobe and dangling off shelves. Many are exclusive to the store, like VeridiAum’s leather and rose gold rings, the chunky scarab and quill trinkets from Withering Elm, and elaborate layered necklaces strewn with vintage brooches by Harlow in Chains. The prices are excellent, too: starting at $20 for a brass charm bracelet and topping out at $300 for an oversize gold cocktail ring."

this is another one I am gonna have to hit up real soon, best place to get a cheap last minute gift, Annie's Blue Ribbon General Store-365 State St., at Bond St., Boerum Hill; 718-522-9848 "A birthday, a baby shower, a colleague’s going-away party? Annie’s Blue Ribbon will come through. Its stock runs from decorative cotton dish towels handwoven with the words eat at home; piggy banks in the shape of giant gummy bears; CDs with lullaby versions of Nirvana, U2, and Coldplay; or cult beauty products like Japanese Yu-Be skin cream. The best part: Most items are under $20."

I am definitely gonna have to go pick up this issue.
